Celebrating Exceptionality

At St John’s the children experience a broad and balanced learning environment that stimulates and supports their learning across the whole curriculum, as well as teaching that engages all the senses. All staff are committed to teamwork, collaboration and the sharing of best practice and strive to take this further with no ceiling on learning.

Children are confident and capable writers and are free to explore a variety of genres through a variety of digital and non-digital media, as well as drama and role play.

Lessons and schemes of work are tailored to meet our wide range of needs and we find that good quality oral work engages all children, whatever their ability.

Children are encouraged to read for meaning and pleasure and this is a primary focus for our school, encouraging children to talk with enthusiasm, discuss and respond to a text and recommend reading material to their peers.

Our pupils enjoy English.
