English

From reception to Y6, English threads throughout all we do. It’s not just about the spelling, punctuation and grammar, although these are key of course.

It’s also about enjoying it – writing letters to Santa, poetry, reading fiction and non-fiction, looking at English all around us in newspapers, magazines, menus, instructions, and advertising too.

We use our English skills to review school trips, films we’ve watched, experiences we’ve had, to tie in with history, writing a diary entry for an Egyptian child, a poem about a Stone Age man or something creative about a book we’ve read; Harry Potter or The Iron Man perhaps.
