The Church

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

Matthew 18:20

Our Church Links

We have excellent links with our local church, St Mary and All Saints in Boxley. Year 6 visit the church for a yearly pilgrimage to mark the end of their journey through St John's. Our EYFS classes also make a trip to learn about a traditional church and place of worship. Our yearly KS2 carol service is also held at the church.

Meet some of the members of our local church and learn about their role within our school community.

Reverend Rob Tugwell

I am the vicar of the Pilgrims Way churches, which stretch from Boxley to Hollingbourne. Grove Green and St John’s school fall within the parish of Boxley and it is a joy to both live and minister in Grove Green. My work here is very varied, but it is encouraging to see people engage with the local church for various reasons and occasions through the year. My link with St John’s school community is something I greatly value and I enjoy leading Monday worship, visiting Early Years and being part of other occasions marked by the school. A fortnightly 3pm church service runs in St John’s school hall and this is tailored especially towards families. It is informal and ‘café church’ style, which means cake is always guaranteed! Maybe give it a try?! Do keep an eye on the school newsletter for service dates, or get in touch with me!

Mary Tasker

I am a member of Boxley Church where I play the organ and rehearse the choir. In school,  I enjoy contributing to the musical activities by training the handbell ensemble, who play at the Christmas carol services and the Christmas Fair and also perform at the end of year leavers’ assemblies. I am part of the team coming into school to help lead Early Year’s Worship - a delight and a privilege.
