Welcome to St John’s – a school that sits in the heart of a community with that community at our heart too.
We opened in 1987, with extensive grounds and many resources, both of which have been maintained and developed over the years as our needs and the world around us changes.
We’ve extended twice, taking on large build projects to increase our space but also to offer more resources to our children to give them the best start to their education.
We are a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary Academy with two-form entry from reception to Year 6.
At St John’s, we have four core values – which are not only derived from our Christian roots but are also rooted in our aim to help our children develop into kind and caring people as they make their way in the world.
We encourage everyone to be heard, to listen and to respect what they say, building trust and ability to share worries, ask questions and understand the world around them.
Our school community is diverse in terms of culture, background and learning ability and through teaching about mutual respect, everyone knows that pupils have the right to learn and teachers, the right to teach.
High expectations of manners and the celebration of diversity further develops the importance of respect.
If behaviour falls outside of our expectations and kindness, we work with our children to encourage them to learn from it and consider other ways to behave which will benefit them and others around us. Forgiveness is always encouraged as we strive to encourage our core values of friendship, forgiveness, trust and compassion.
